In 1958 the Grand Rapids Kiwanis Foundation was formed as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the goal of supplementing the charitable interests of the Kiwanis Club. The Foundation was originally funded by Travelogue fund raisers presented by the Downtown Club. These funds have been supplemented by contributions from members of the Kiwanis Club of Grand Rapids North and the general public.
The ongoing
task of the Foundation is to receive donations and to make prudent
investments so that additional funds may be distributed each year. The
Foundation is registered through the Internal Revenue Service as a
charity to which tax deductible donations may be made. Donations in any
amount or in any form will be gratefully accepted. Small donations,
when pooled over the years can accrue significantly.
Each fiscal year, beginning October 1, our Foundation awards grants to worthwhile projects and programs in our community.
In the past ten years awards totaling over $140,000 have been made. Last year, a total of $26,000 in grants were awarded to:
• Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital – We Do Care Fund • Palmer Elementary School • St. Alphonsus Church • Catherine’s Health Center • Girls Choral Academy • North End Community Ministry (NECM) Food Pantry • Noorthoek Academy • and other charities and projects
If you would like to make a donation or inquire about bequests to help further the Foundation causes, please contact: [email protected]
